HISTORY:
Zon grew up amongst many of her kind in a great herd of Centaurs that were fierce and mighty warriors and masters of archery. The women of her clan were also great at crafts. They would weave the finest fabrics and make baskets out of grass and reeds. But it were the men that were the true labourers – blacksmiths, armourers, builders and other sorts of duties that needed strength, rather than fineness for design. Zon was the only child born to a blacksmith and a basket weaver living in the woods. Syrio, her father, forged swords for a living, and trained with them to ensure they had a perfect balance – otherwise he would melt them down and start again. His companion, Sansa, loved him very much but neither of them wished to marry, which was a little unorthodox. However, Sansa stayed with him for many years and gave him a daughter, which they named Amazon. Zon was much like her father, tanned skinned and dark coated, with an interest in metalworks.PERSONALITY:
Zon was not allowed near the smithy that her father worked in, as Sansa was trying to teach her the more feminine duties that were expected of her. But Zon didn't care of girly tasks of sewing, beading or weaving. Zon wanted to wipe her brow and end up with soot on her face from the fire that forged. Zon wanted desperately to be a blacksmith like her father. This naturally set her apart from the other young centaurs in her herd. But Zon didn't care.
When she was seven years, Zon contracted laminitis in one of her hind hooves. It caused her great pain that she underwent treatments to reduce the ailment. She had her hoof cooled constantly and was given medicinal herbs to dull the pain. Eventually the pain went away and her hoof returned to normal, but she would walk with a limp for the rest of her life.
By the age of nine, Zon's father gave up and agreed to teach his daughter to be a blacksmith – just to stop her persistent pestering. Zon worked hard and brought a new style into the smithy – forging blades of perfect balance, that had an elegant design to them. Even Syrio was impressed with her work by the time she was eighteen. Zon then branched out into making armour of equal quality.
When she was nineteen, Zon left her family and clan to journey out on her own and make a name for herself amongst other species as a blacksmith. She navigated her way to the Hills of Fallada by using the stars as a map. There she set up shop as a smithy, not caring for the suspicious looks that were aimed in her direction for two reasons – one: Zon was a centaur, and two: Zon was a female blacksmith. Zon is now twenty-two and still having troubles with people in general.
Zon can easily be described as a little rough around the edges. She's brash and opinionated, but she has a good heart when it comes down to it. Zon would never turn her back when someone was in need of help, but she doesn't exactly sugar coat her attitude to make friends. Zon believes that if people truly want her as a friend, then they had best accept her as she is. If someone continually gets on her nerves while she is working in the smithy, she will warn them twice by asking them politely to take their leave. But if they persist, she kicks them out... literally. Zon is very friendly with children of any species, and has even gives them little toys that she has forged in the smithy – little knights and horses, or dragons. Zon always has a smile on her face for children, but with adults she is a little more cautious and hard to read.FLAWS:
APPEARANCE:
- Warped sense of revenge ~ Zon has been judged all her life (starting with the centaurs) because her parents never married and she trained as a blacksmith. In a twisted sort of way Zon has become extremely judgemental of other people herself, causing grief in a way to get her revenge for them judging her.
- Highly defensive ~ Zon knows she's just as good as some of the male blacksmith when it comes to her work. But when people start claiming that a woman could not be as good, Zon tends to get aggressively defensive about it. She left her herd of centaurs to get away from that attitude.
- Easily loosing interest in conversation ~ Zon never means to ignore anyone, but she cannot help it when she has a tenancy to loose interest and start working on a project with her hammer and anvil, for her client to grab her attention again. She's had the tenancy since she was a child whenever her mother tried to teach her the lady-like chores expected of her – Zon would loose interest and wander off while her mother was still speaking.
- Paranoid ~ Because of her social awkwardness due to being judged constantly, Zon has developed a sense of paranoia for dealing with people. Simply: she doesn't trust anyone. Zon especially hates it when they start asking her questions – particularly about how she became a blacksmith and where she is from.
- Lame ~ Zon walks with a slight limp due to her hind right hoof having contracted laminitis as a child.
Slap a human torso on a horse's body, what do you get? A centaur. If only it were that easy to describe. Zon is fairly tall for her age, standing taller than her mother but she will never be her father's height. Zon is something like a draft horse with her build, with sturdy legs and large hooves, complete with feathering hair surrounding her hooves. She is coloured blue roan across her equine form, with four white stockings, heavy frosting on her rump and a black tail.HEIGHT: 17hh to the equine shoulder
WEIGHT: 1200 pounds
EYE COLOR: Brown
HAIR COLOR: Black
SKIN TONE: Lightly tanned
HOME: Hills of Fallada
FAMILY:
Zon loved her parents very much, but she loved her grandfather Benjen even more. The kindly old centaur always had a smile on his face whenever she visited and supported her in her desire to follow her father's trade. Zon loved Benjen because he was unorthodox in his ways and welcomed her in all her strangeness.SIGNIFICANTS:
Father - Syrio
Mother - Sansa
Grandparents (father) - Benjen and Mrycella
Grandparents (mother) - Jon and Catlyn
She has a pet Doberman puppy named Kirby that she found on her travels. He lives in her smithy and likes to sit on her back while she works. He behaves himself while on her back so that he doesn't fall to the ground. When he isn't on her back he is chasing rats, or sleeping under one of the work benches.PLOTS:
She also has a Kukri blade stashed under a work bench for the situations where kicking someone out of her smithy doesn't get the message across. It has an ivory handle, and engravings on the blade. It has no name.
Open for just about anything. Should try and get her some friends.... though she's not the easiest to get along with...OTHER:
She is also easily distracted by shiny things....ALIAS: Kel (or Mastermind)
