Dimitri was very confused. Diamond had been riding out into the hills on her horse with two guards following her, that much he had been aware of as he sat happily in the back of her mind, humming to himself and cringing every time she laid a whip to her horse or snapped at her guards. Then the clock had struck noon and he had transformed, back into Dimitri. He remembered turning around and saying to the guards that he really needed to change out of this dress, (Diamond had known they were going to transform) but they took one look at him before turning their horses and riding away screaming.
"No! Come back! I'm sorry if I have offended you!" But it was no use. Sighing, Dimitri dismounted and tore out of the dress and slipped into the...annoyingly fashionable men's clothes she had packed for him. She always dressed him in the most ridiculous clothing and he always ended up changing if they were at home and he usually ended up buttoning up several buttons on his shirt. Mind you, she always timed it and dressed before he transformed, so he had never had to change out of a dress before. He grumbled good-naturedly to himself as he buckled his sword that Diamond had strapped to her horse's saddle before they left, being unable to lift it herself. And with that, he remounted his horse and proceeded into the city.
He wasn't entirely sure why Diamond had wanted to come here...and particularly why she wanted him to be here, but he assumed it had something to do with her take-over-the-world-and-have-lots-of-lesbian sex plan. Those thoughts and images she sent him involving the thing she called 'lesbian sex' made him sick to his stomach and sometimes he would throw up. He was content to bow to beautiful ladies in their castle. He was a lesbian too, but even though it was acceptable for him to court beautiful ladies, Diamond had demanded that he not tell anyone he was a lesbian, so he simply neglected to mention he was a lesbian to anyone.
There was so much to look at in the city! So many people rushing from place to place, yelling, selling and buying wares, guards riding about on horseback and errand boys darting to and fro. He was so distracted by the extravaganza of activity before him that he was only pulled from his reverie when the bells in the temple began to chime.

Katie had had another fight with her father. She hated fighting with her father. But he was pushing her to get married, to meet the suitors he thought would be a great match for her. But Katie didn't want to get married! She enjoyed the freedom she had to flirt with every man she met! She loved to toy with their affections and smile and giggle at them. Men seemed to respond to a shy giggle more than anything else. A little flutter of the eyelashes, some exaggerated modesty and a soft, sweet voice. Katie had flirting down to an art form. And she was good at it. She could reel a man in with nothing more than a little eyelash flutter and an innocent smile.
But, deep down, Katie really wanted to find love. She wanted the man she married to be someone she loved. But her father told her she would have to learn to love whomever she married. She had screamed at him and told him that would never happen. Then she had stormed off and snuck into the city. The noise was soothing. She loved to wander the city streets lost in thought. She knew she would return with her dress a bit dusty and tear tracts on her face, and her father would sigh and the servants would fuss. But her step-mother would understand. Serena loved Katie like her own daughter and, even if Katie did not quite see her as a replacement mother, she loved her nonetheless. Serena had often held Katie as she cried about something her father had said to her. It happened more often than Katie cared to admit.
As the temple bells began to ring Katie looked up and found she was directly in front of a large horse. She screamed and fell over backwards. She was terrified of horses, any large animal really. She sat on the ground and hyper ventilated as she stared up at the knight on the horse, who was dressed quite smartly and had a sword hanging from his belt, something Katie was also terrified of.

"Woah..." Dimitri commented, his gaze transfixed on the temple, fascinated as the bells in the tower tolled. He had never been to the capitol city before and thus had never heard such a sound. Diamond had been here many times though, and she was sitting in the back of his head screaming at him to get a move-on. He ignored her, fully enraptured until he felt a soft thump! against his legs, followed by a loud scream.
Looking down, he saw the most beautiful red-haired girl lying on the ground breathing very fast and looking terrified. Momentarily stunned by her beauty, Dimitri sat there stupidly for a second. Recovering, he was off his horse in a flash and as kneeling next to the girl.
"M'lady, I am so sorry!" He said, apologizing profusely and offering her hand. "Really, m'lady, so, so dreadfully sorry. Are you hurt? Oh my gods! Please don't be hurt! Please get better! Please don't die! You're going to die, aren't you? It's all my fault!" By now, Dimitri's lower lip was trembling and he was edge of tears, his deep hazel eyes watering as he looked at the young woman next to him with the deepest remorse.

Katie tried to slow her breathing as she gazed up at the man as he got off of the terrifying horse and offered her his hand. She was too scared to do anything but reach up to take his hand. She realized she must have looked a dreadful sight. Her dress was now covered in dirt, and her hands were skinned and bruised from attempting to break her fall.
Finally she managed to shake her head at the man.
"I'm fine, sir." She choked out, finally, her voice shaking. She tried to smile, but only managed a little one. Her backside and hands were starting to smart.
"I just...I'm a bit afraid of horses, and I wasn't paying attention to where I was going..." Katie told him, a bit breathlessly, her voice still trembling slightly, but her breathing had finally slowed.

"No! You're hurt!" The knight protested, pulling her gently to her feet. "I am so, so sorry. Is there a medic in the city? Wait here, I'll go find one!" He let go of her hand and darted off, but only made it past his horse, where he stumbled and fell over on his own face. He hit the ground hard and rolled over, letting out a groan, coming face to face with his horse's muzzle. But the animal was far from trampling him. Indeed, the destrier merely looked bored with the proceedings, content to stand there and sunbathe while his master made an idiot of himself. He was a kinder master than the woman, anyway.
He blushed deepest scarlet as he pulled himself back to his feet and turned to face the girl.
"I'm...so terribly sorry you had to see that." He mumbled, apologizing for what was the millionth time in the past two minutes. Although less harried, he was still bent on completing his task. "Let's get you to a medic, m'lady. I promise to make my noble steed keep his distance, you hear that?" The last part was directed at his horse, which merely stood there, completely ignoring him.
He offered his hand to her once more, then quickly recoiled to brush it off on his tunic, then extending it to again.
"Do you have a name as beautiful as your face?" He asked, with the deepest sincerity.

Katie watched as the man made a fool of himself, barely making it past the scary beast before toppling over onto his face. Katie had to bite her lip to keep from laughing. It did no good to laugh at someone who had been so kind to her thus far. She smiled gratefully at him when he returned to where she had remained standing.
Her smile grew slightly as he promised to keep his horse away from her, and she relaxed slightly, feeling strangely safe in this clumsy man's company. She let a out a small giggle, unable to contain herself as he spoke to the horse as if he were a person. She then blushed deeply as he complimented her. She shook his hand.
"My name is Katie." She told him, still blushing slightly. "And yours, good sir?" She asked.

"Katie..." Dimitri repeated, reverently. "May I tread so far as to say your parents had excellent taste in names?" He said, with something of a cheeky grin.
"I am called Dimitri." he stated, leaving out his knightly title of "sir", no matter how many times Diamond had insisted that it was their birthright, a birthright only he could use, so he'd better use it enough for both of them. He had also left out the name of his father, his place of residence and his surname. While Diamond all thought they were excellent ways of establishing dominance, Dimitri didn't see what all the fuss was about. he liked being called Dimitri -- it was a pretty name and it suited him, why dress it up with titles that Diamond thought gave them prestige? "I...I believe I am here to deliver a message to the king." He added, as Diamond kicked his memory, already irked that he had refused to use their surname and titles.
"Hey, medic! Medic!" He called out, into the crowd. No one responded. "Where do you find a medic around here...Katie?" He slipped in her name just because he could, already infatuated with it.

Katie couldn't help but giggle slightly. "Well, Katie is a nickname, my full name is Katerina, but its too long and formal for everyday use." She told Dimitri, smiling at him.
She was puzzled that he had not introduced himself as "sir", most men she had met that dressed as Dimitri did flaunted their titles. But perhaps he was not like the men she had met before. For one thing, he was sweeter, and far more chivalrous than most men, especially knights. So far, Katie was immensely enjoying Dimitri's company, despite his clumsiness, that just made him all the more endearing.
"It's fine, I don't need a medic. It's just my hands. I have some cloth, if you could bind them for me?" Katie assured Dimitri, then fished some cloth out of the bag that hung in the folds of her dress. She handed the cloth to him and held out her hands.
"Please? Before too much dirt gets into the cuts. I can have the maid clean them when I get home. She'll fuss and nag, but it'll be fine." She added, fluttering her eyelashes at him a little.

"Katerina..." He repeated, as if it was the most beautiful and exotic thing to ever leave his lips. "I shall call you Katerina, m'lady. You're worthy of such a long and beautiful name."
Of course, Dimitri couldn't have the dirty getting in her cuts, so he reached for his leather flask, unbuckling it from his saddle. "Here, hold out your hands, I'll wash them first. The dirt will sting and I don't you to have to feel pain." He said, gently taking the bandage from her and throwing it over one of his well-defined shoulders. Smiling at her, he carefully poured the water over her hands before ripping the bandage in half and gently winding it around each hand.
"Sorry if it stings." He said, securing the second bandage in a knot on itself. He then made the glorious mistake of looking into her striking green eyes and feeling butterflies jump in his stomach as the color rose in his cheeks and he looked away and stupid grin plastering over his face.
"Where do you live...Katerina?"

"Not even my father calls me Katerina." Katie told Dimitri. Then she smiled. "It might be a nice change." She added, fluttering her eyelashes flirtatiously at him. She realized her name was quite beautiful.
Katie held out her hands and winced as Dimitri poured the water over them. She was grateful he had been so considerate. Her hands would have been quite painful when she got home, otherwise. She gritted her teeth as Dimitri then wrapped the bandages around her hands.
"Thank you, Dimitri, for your kindness. Most would simply have left me on the ground."
Katie smiled at Dimitri, but frowned as the thought of home brought memories of her earlier fight with her father.
"I live in a mansion outside the city with my father and step-mother and little brother. Where do you live, Sir Dimitri?"

Dimitri smiled shyly at his boots as she thanked him. She was indeed very pretty and he was...so this was what attraction felt like. It was this bubbly warm feeling in the pit of his stomach. Diamond had always said it made her want to jump on the girl, (or at least that's what her side of their brain said) but it didn't make Dimitri want to jump on her at all. He wanted to spend as much time with her as possible and attend to her every wish. Diamond providing no information on what love felt like, but Dimitri was hungry to try it out.
"It would be a sin to leave a lady as wonderful as you lying on the ground!" He proclaimed.
"I'm, well, Sanguine Castle, actually. I was sent to the Syphly City to deliver a message of some sort, but I...I can't remember what it was..." His voice trailed away and he looked vaguely thoughtful for a moment, but then he gave up on concentration and just shrugged pleasantly.
"Come with me Katerina, we shall explore the merchants' wares. What does your heart desire today?"
