He wasn't expecting Yuliya to make a decision like that. Normally he was the one who had the final say on what to do with strangers, but then again, normally there wasn't a knocked-out Luna on the ground. Now Amri knew he appreciated the animals, but Yuliya was uncommonly attached to them. They weren't just a casual companion, they were her closest friend. And if she thought one of them had gotten hurt because of her? No, she wouldn't rest. Hurt animals made her go slightly crazy. She would wake up in the middle of the night to go out and find an animal that needed her help, so he couldn't get mad at her for making her own decision, but that didn't mean he had to follow through on it.
He spoke quietly to his sister, “We can't just let her go, she uses magic, we can't trust that.” He noticed out of the corner of his eye that Streak was following the stranger, as if he knew exactly what they needed of him. Well, animals always did seem to do what he needed of them if his sister was around. But he couldn't let Streak go on his own, she could easily kill him, and a dead Streak would mean a devastated Yuliya. The connection between those two was different, because Yuliya had found him as an orphaned chick. He only left her presence if he had a mission, and otherwise spent the majority of his life on Yuliya's shoulder. No, he had to go and finish the job. “I'll just follow her from a distance to make sure that she's actually going away. I'll be back soon. I'm sure if trouble happens, Streak will come and get you, okay? Go back to the camp,” he said as he started walking away to follow her.

Yuliya's wide eyes examined her brothers face as he spoke to her. She was happy to see the woman go finally, but she was also worried about Streak. Letting Amri go would mean she didn't have to worry about Streak as much...but with the added new worry about Amri. She didn't know who the woman was but what she knew was bad. She'd tried to hurt Amri. She'd hurt Luna. Those were two things that ensured Yuliya would never give her a chance. So while she wanted her to just be away, she also wanted to make sure she never came back. This was her family, not all of it, but the part she loved most deeply, and she wasn't sure what to do.
But she ended up saying, “Okay,” to him, giving him a quick squeeze before kneeling to lift Luna off the ground and carry her in her arms and sending a quick message to Streak, informing him of Amri's joining up and telling him to come and find her if another fight broke out. Worry plastered her face as she set Luna on the ground of their shelter and then sat down by her body. She knew Amri was expecting her to lie down and get some sleep, but she couldn't, she sat there curled up with her sword still at her side and Apollo continuously growling at the entrance to their shelter.

Ava continued walking through the forest, aware of the brute following her. She didn't bother looking back, after her hunting experience, she found it easy to understand the movements from only footsteps and breathing. Plus, it gave her the advantage for him to have no idea what she knew about his actions. "Seriously, don't you have better things to do than go chasing girls in the middle of the night? Like, I don't know, sleeping?' she asked dryly.
Avianna was getting tired, not only of the barbarian's serious intelligence and persistence, but physically as well. Everyone seemed to think magic was easy, but it was very draining. Avianna had barely eaten at all that day and it was late. All she wanted to do was sink into one of those beds at the inn and sleep.
"Just leave me alone to my thoughts, will you?" he was seriously starting to get to her, "Are you going to follow me all the way to the port, or are you going to attack me? Choose ASAP please because I'd like to get this over with." he felt like a bug around her head or a mosquito bite on her arm. He just would not go away until she had to use absolute force, would he?

“Damn, do you have bad memory or are you just stupid? I distinctly remember telling you this, but I guess I'll have to spell it out clearer,” he sped up a bit to get closer since there was really no point of him trying to be sneaky anymore, not that there had been at the beginning, and then he said, enunciating clearly and talking slowly, as if talking to a dumb child, “I. Can't. Take. Risks.” He was starting to really question how smart she was. She talked like a person who thought they were smart, but obviously was new to this whole staying alive business. He was genuinely surprised she was still alive if she thought what he was doing was a strange thing.
“Here, let me explain it to you. There's this strategy of keeping your enemies close so that they can't stab you in back. What? Do you expect me to trust you? Cause you've proven yourself so trustworthy, I mean god, I would gladly put the lives that are most previous to me in your hands. Seriously, are you dumb, ignorant, or just a plain moron?” He really wanted to just slice off her head right now, but when it came to magic, he, as he had said, couldn't take risks. Not with Streak flying above him, ready to fly back and fetch Yuliya if even the slightest fight broke out, and if there was one thing he needed to do, it was keep his sister away from this crazy bitch.

Avianna shook her head, "I am none of those things, Mr. Muscles. I just think you're a little too paranoid to think that someone like-say-me, who has never threatened to do any more than defend myself, by the way, could actually care whatsoever about you or your sister." she gave a little laugh, "And I thought I was paranoid, but you really take the cake. Tell me, what is out there looking for you that's so dangerous you have to hide your emotions behind your muscles and be on guard duty your entire life?" .
Strangely, she felt just a prick of pity for the guy. He obviously cared for his sister very much, though Ava couldn't even guess what it'd be like to actually feel responsible for another human's life. Why couldn't she take care of herself. She obviously had bow skills and animals to protect her, wouldn't he be happier on his own? Rather than tied to another? That was a mystery to Ava, but the fact he felt like everything with power, like her, was risky to be around.
Avianna turned around so she was walking backwards with slightly disinterested eyes, giving a slight, little shrug, "You can tell me." she said with a hint of a smirk on her face.

“Oh, I don't know, probably comes with being one of the most wanted men around here,” he said without a trace of bitterness, “You saw an example of that. People come after me for revenge cause I do my job, or maybe I stole from them, and then there's the fact that I think there's a bounty on my head and I could get arrested at any point and the tribe she and I come from aren't exactly on friendly terms with the king. But the thing is, people who don't like me are scared of me, so they go after her.” He was proud to say she hadn't been kidnapped for the two years where it had just been him and her, but there had been some close calls and betrayals.
“Not to say it isn't fun though,” and that was also true. He always found joy in fighting and killing people, it was his goal to become the strongest man in the world and he was well on his way to getting there. There was joy on his face when he saw the life fade out of someone because it meant he was one step closer to achieving his goal, and one day, he wouldn't have to worry about anything, and not even magic-users would get in his way and he'd be able to take down anyone.

Ava put her finger up, to add something, "You forgot, I don't like you-but only a coward would try and take it out on your sister. And, by the way, you scare me as much as a hog with a sword.". She meant what she said though, about those people being cowards. Ava didn't like the barbarian, but his sister had never done anything to her-why would anyone think that even trying to use her to hurt the big brother. It'd obviously just make him even more mad.
Avianna turned back and began to walk again, facing away from him. "See, you like chopping people's heads off-whereas I prefer to follow my prey in the night until they have absolutely no idea I'm there and sending an arrow through their neck." she said with a sour sweetness, "So, now what? You must be a little tired, why don't you go back to your sister and guard her there. How do you know some other big, bag warlock hasn't found her by now, or even someone like that incident in the Marketplace? And here you are, chasing me around." she said in fake shame on him, complete with a tsk tsking sound, "You're poor sister. I'm sure, hypothetically, they wouldn't be nearly as nice or pretty as me."
Now, one mustn't see Ava as a vain person-far from the sort really. She had just been told she was pretty, and had learned to use this knowledge to her general advantage-sometimes. Other times people used her looks to underestimate her, and there wasn't much less she hated than to be underestimated, after all the work she put in to try and appear as feral and rouge as she was. She didn't even wear womans' apparel! What did she have to do to get a little respect around here?

“First off, you're not nice or pretty,” he said, toning down her one-sided compliment to herself. Her supposed she was attractive, but he knew what he liked. He liked dark wavy hair, dark skin, a willowy but curvy frame...and leaf green eyes, ones that lit up when he asked them to sing. “Second, you obviously trying to get rid of me is making me trust you even less.” He'd been tricked too many times to have that sort of security anymore, he now took it on faith that when someone wanted you to do something, you should do the opposite, otherwise they'd find a way to get around him.
“And she's safe from thugs, she's a good fighter and she has with her the best guard dog in the world, plus the fastest horse in the kingdom.” Of course she'd never killed anyone. She was too young to kill someone. Sure, he'd killed his first person when he was thirteen, but she was far more fragile than him. Sure, she seemed open to it, but he;d told her that when she needed to she just needed to injure them enough so they couldn't walk and then run away, preferably to him. But he didn't betray how her talking about killing animals made him uncomfortable. What was wrong with him? He was a cold-blooded killer but now even the thought of eating meat made him sick. That's what he got for spending so much time with his sister. "But magic? That's not something she needs to deal with."

"Of coarse it wouldn't make sense I want to get rid of you because I want to go home and sleep, or that I simply want to vomit in your presence. That's impossible." she said, with thick sarcasm lacing every word like poison coating itself on an apple to be fed to the fairest of them all. "And I never asked you to trust me. Just leave me be. I must say, I'd actually trust you less if you wouldn't leave me alone, which you wont-so I must say the feeling is quite mutual." she said matter-of-factly.
Ava eyed him suspiciously, a trickle of unease spreading down her neck, under her armour. "Why are you telling e all this information, anyway? I don't care if your sister has a griffin, she's not my sister. To me, it looks like you're making a classic villain mistake; telling me anything because you expect to kill me soon." she paused, "And... and you don't seem like the open type.". She looked straight into his eyes, wanting to make sure he wasn't lying. "Are you or are you not going to attempt to kill me?" she asked straight out, not bothering to dance around it-but hopefully she'd get some sort of answer, whether it be a lie or not.

“That's where you're wrong, I am the open type. I'm not one of those brooding strangers. I kill people for a living and I protect my sister and we have two horses, two dogs, and a peregrine falcon, what exactly do I have to hide when you already know the basics?” It was true that he often didn't tell people he had a sister, just so people wouldn't be tempted to kidnap her, but once a person knew those things there was nothing else to him, he was an open book, or so he liked to think. Truth was, there were a few more things to him, but he just never thought to bring them up. Like how he had been lying to his sister for the past two years and the reason he had really started hating his father.
“See, I'm actually in a pickle. I would very much like to kill you, but we're being followed,” he pointed up to the sky at the peregrine falcon soaring over their heads, “and the second a fight starts he will go back to Yuliya and bring her here, and in the VERY slight chance you somehow rendered me helpless, I would not want her here, so it's an unfortunate no on the killing. But I'm not leaving until you're asleep in that village.” He suspected the next day would consist mostly of him sleeping and Yuliya gathering plants to eat close to their camp, he wouldn't let her go farther. They weren't desperately in need of anything so they could take a day off and stay in the same camp for two nights.

Ava looked him over once he finished speaking, trying to conclude if he was telling the truth. She glimpsed in the sky to see the slight shadow. She silently thanked the bird, and her owner, and his reason seemed true enough. Not that she trusted him, but she could conclude that he wasn't going to attack her at any second, she felt her shoulders relax and her pace quickening a little from the lack of tension. "Nice to know. I happen to like breathing."
Ava continued along the path towards the town, she didn't think it'd be long now. Then she'd have this annoying barbarian out of her hair before long, and if fate was kind, she'd never see him again. Then again, fate wasn't usually kind. Damn, I better start learning some memory erasing spells. she thought to herself, I don't want too many of these morons, running around and wanted my head chopped off.
After about four minutes of walking in dead silence, she asked out of the blue, "If you're so open, then why do you hate magic so much, Mr. Muscles?" she asked, genuinely curious of his pure hatred for her practices.

“It's cheating,” he said simply, “I've worked since I could walk to become strong. I swam upstream in mile-wide rivers, I walked on coals, I starved myself for days and protected my tribe from bears and wild dogs. I have worked with every type of weapon and sparred with everyone in my tribe at least three times and won every single time. Magic is what lazy people do to protect themselves from people like me who actually put the work in.” That was the reason he was willing to admit, but in the back of his mind, he knew he was also scared of magic. He didn't get how it worked, he liked things making sense. He didn't like feeling tricked and he didn't like having something he thought was true become the opposite.
“And why do you seem to hate people who do what it takes to protect the people they care about?” He didn't get people like her, the loner types. It just seemed so boring and pointless. Why keep yourself alive if your only company was yourself? He had something to come home to everyday. When he'd succeeded he was rewarded with a smile, and when he came back wounded he got comfort. He knew at this age he should have been thinking about getting a wife but flings in taverns were all that really interested him. But he thought you had to be pretty vain or self-centered to want to always be alone.

Ava snorted, cheating, yeah-right "You don't know shit about Magic, do you Mr. Muscles? I mean, sure, it looks easy. I get how one could think that, but magic is not all hand manoeuvres and incantations. It takes work. Hard work too. I've been studying magic since I was a kid and I still could only be considered a modest enchantress at best." she scoffed, "You think you're the only one that works for protection? Just because my powers cannot be seen in sweat and skin doesn't mean they are just as tough to attain or use." Many people thought ignorance was bliss, but Ava disagreed. Ignorance was the unknown, and the point of being unknown was to become known. Plus, it was pretty damn annoying.to hear people like him yacking on about things they knew nothing about. "Magic takes concentration and practice. It's not all hand waving and easy things like you've seen from me.
Avianna gave a short sigh, "So, You can't say I hate people that do what it takes to protect themselves-because then I'd hate myself. Just because you can't do Magic doesn't make it cheating at life for everyone else that's put their lives into it." she defended herself quickly, like almost always.

“Yeah, sure,” he said sarcastically, “I'm sure it was very hard for you.” He rolled his eyes and looked up at the sky at Streak with a questioning in his eyes, as if he was asking the bird if he really would go back and get Yuliya if he attempted to kill this girl, but alas, of all the animals, the one who followed what Yuliya wanted him to do more than any other was Streak the little mama's boy...at least Apollo and Luna would sometimes disobey her if they thought it was a good idea. Of course, he didn't even know how she gave them such direct and specific instructions in the first place.
“And you'll notice I didn't ask you about protecting yourself, I asked you why you hate people who protect what they care about...unless you're so self-centered you assumed 'what you care about' meant yourself.” He rolled his eyes at her. He was sure even he was an easier person to get along with than her, at least he had someone who traveled with him all the time and friends he ran into once in awhile whom he'd drink and kill with. Whereas she? She'd die alone and unloved. “Cause if that is what you thought, I pity you.”

Avianna rolled her eyes, "You pity me because I don't have any family left to carry around?" she asked, "Or because I don't have a husband to take care of me?". It was quite true Ava had no family left. Her mother and older brother had died when she was a baby, and her father had died several years ago. They had never talked about uncles or aunts or anything, so even if Ava did have relatives somewhere-she had no idea who they were.
But he thought, just because she didn't have a companion, she hated people that did? Ignorance. she thought as she gave another scoff, "Let me tell you, If I did have a sister or a brother, hypothetically, I wouldn't be dragging them around with me. I'd want them to live their own life, not be following me around like a pet rock.".
That was when they hit the road that lead into town, Not too much longer. Just a little longer... "And, I don't hate you because you have a sister. I hate you because you're a beheading-happy, bloodthirsty, moronic idiot that just seems to get in the way of me living my life." she said simply, walking along the edge of the road.
