It had been a hot day in the city today, Ava had spent most of it in her room at the inn-hiding from the rays. Luckily though, evening was beginning to set in to the heat had cooled into a warm-but rather comfortable, humid setting. Ava had ventured out of her room and she was walking around town for a bit. The sun was still in the sky but she saw storm clouds in the distance that threatened to cover the sun, or even rain. She sighed and headed for the town square. It was actually quite lively, with a couple people playing instruments the square vibrated with people talking, laughing and music.
The atmosphere really lightened Ava's mood and she found herself smiling and walking around by herself, watching people and just enjoying the rest of the day. She saw a couple people talking about their miracle products, mostly conmen probably, with mud in jars. She laughed and looked down at the ground and still wandered by herself, letting the night soak in before she set out once again in the morning to go out hunting.
Ava was dressed in her usual clothes, a plain white shirt that reached just past her hips, and plain boy's pants. Some people looked at her weird because she wore boy's clothes but she didn't like wearing dresses. They were hard to run and jump in and were terrible in the forest. The only dress Ava owned was the one she had four years ago, and it barely fit her any more. Ava didn't know why she even held onto it... Across her shoulders was a simple coin purse. Usually, Ava was very alert and rarely had her hand away from her coin purse but she only tapped it once and a while to make sure it still had her belongings. She had a week's worth of game coin in there, minus the night at the inn. She didn't even dare leave it in her room, if any robbers dared brake in...
Ava brushed her pouch with her hand, to make sure everything was good, then looked around for some other entertainment. Ava didn't need money really, not for much more than weapon repairs or inn fees. She decided to focus on the street performers instead, staying at the back of the crowd with curious eyes and crossing her hands over her chest and watching with gentle curiosity.

Alex sighed as the sun beat down above him for most of the day. It was one of those days that it seemed like it was going to be hot, but nothing could really be done by it. He figured he could at least work a little in the town square, since he didn’t really have any jobs lined up at the moment. His mind raced as he stared out the window and tried to decide if he wanted to work the crowd or to try to work his more artistic abilities.
He grabbed a small harp that he had bought not too long, hoping the lessons when he was younger and the practice he had would be enough to keep the audience attention. He was dressed in more traditional style, a red jacket over a brown shirt, and cloth pants allowed him to move easily to try and find a spot to play. And it was there he saw it, in front of the fountain caught in the shade of a large cloud over head.
He watched as people started pass by from entertainer to another. Nimble fingers traced across the strings, giving a slight set of notes. After a few seconds, a smile arrived on his face, and his fingers started to pull at the strings. The notes started to float in the air, music caring in the wind and mixing harmoniously with the rest of the town square. It was always fun to give a little music to the world, but also allowed him to try and find another target. His eyes scanned the crowd as he caught something moving from the back of the crowd.

A rather pleasent sounding harp began to play and she turned towards it. As a crowd began to form she walked slowly around it, like a lioness prowling through the reeds around her prey-though her intentions were far from sinister. If times were tough for Ava she might have been looking for pockets to pick-but she had a purseful of coin that she didn't need for anything except a new shirt or shiny dagger so there was no point in stealing today.
Avianna watched the harp player with curiosity. He had a handsome look with dirty blonde hair and pretty blue eyes. He looked like the kind of person that was usually chasing around woman, we all know the kind-the vain men that walked around like they were the king but actually if a single person from the forest they'd be slaughtered in seconds. As she looked closer though, between the shoulders of the spectators as she continued to circle back and fourth, he seemed to have a sneakiness to him, a sharp eye.
The man playing the harp intrugied her, not for his handsome face or delicate plucking of the strings of his harp-but he didn't seem quite as simple as the surrounding peasents with their happy faces yet so boring lives. She thought that her curiosity was innocent enough to investigate.
She moved through the crowd slowly, glancing around the audience slowly she made her way to the front and stepped towards the front to get a better look. Her face was filled with mild curiosity as well as a small mixture of caution. She stood there for a moment then reached into her coin purse and tossed a coin to his feet with a little trace of a smile, saying "You play as almost as good as you sound.".

Alexander had shut his eyes as the music drew him away from his surroundings temporarily. He remembered playing the song for his mother when she was sick in bed, and thought of the man who taught him that song. The time he spent preforming with others, and the masters that had taught them where for the most part etched into his mind. The man with the heavy accent, who taught them music from his homeland, flashed before his mind and brought back the young man to reality. His fingers sped up as he took himself back toward the music. Taking note of the few people who had tossed coins at his feet, but he was disappointed when they had walked off shortly. He was happy for their donation but wanted to be able to thank them at least, but if they wanted to move on that was their call. Moving his feet slightly as he tried to maintain his posture as he continued to play, thinking of the scene the music was meant to portray. The morning wind, the change of waves, the commotion of the people on the shore; it all displayed itself in his mind as he tried to lose himself as he continued to play. The sound of coins clanking together brought him back to reality. Alexander looked down to see the coins that lay at his feet had grown one. He smiled as he finished the song and bowed politely in front of the audience. He heard the words spoke from the person in front of him. His smile grew as he took note of the girl in front of him, blond hair framed her face perfectly. “I thank you, my dear patron; music is only as soft as the inspiration that provides for it.” He blushed slightly as she complimented him. “ Any specific type of music you would want to hear my dear?”((was going to toss this on the first post but couldn't find the music that seemed to fit. Alas I has found it now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jEsSK4wmGk Also this is roughly what his lyre harp looks like thumbs.dreamstime.com/thumblarge_400/1242676910uu7131.jpg ))

Ava tilted her head a little to the side in thought when he spoke to him. He was very polite and eloquent with his words, but she supposed someone that spent so much time preforming out here. She gave a slight shrug when he asked if she wished to make a request, "No thank you, I know next to nothing about music. So I'm afraid I couldn't name any type in particular I like." she said in a casual manner, "It's quite a shame, really."
Ava liked music, sometimes. Music, along with poetry, she thought it was one of the pretty things in life-like jewellery or fancy dresses. Impressive, but not a necessity-and only usually studied by people who couldn't care for much else other than those pretty things in life. When she was younger, and her father took her into a village once and a while, she remembered hearing music. Sometimes coming from taverns and sometimes out in the open. She never really thought much of it until she had visited the city for the first time. Now she found it as a little flower in her unfriendly, inartistic life. Not that Ava minded, the idea of her ever becoming a musician was about as likely as her marrying a noble tomorrow. Which was less of a chance than none.
"So, due to my lack of general experience, I must say-play whatever you wish, sir." she said with a polite smile as she continued to try and piece him together. There still seemed something off about him, something she simply couldn't put a finger on. It was only a little frustrating to her that she couldn't seem to even realize what she was looking for. She decided to stick around and maybe talk to him once he had finished entertaining the crowd.

"No thank you, I know next to nothing about music. So I'm afraid I couldn't name any type in particular I like. It's quite a shame, really."
Alex smiled softly as the audience member who had his attention shrugged. She was cute, but seemed different the some of the other people that were wandering the town square. He tilted his head slightly when she politely declined his offer to suggest the type of song to play next. He nodded, as his mind raced to try and find a song that he could play. He smiled as a few came to his mind; think he would need to continue soon.
There was always something about music to him. It was perfect for distractions, perfect when needing to hide in a crowd, as no one ever really suspects the man standing out of the crowd, it usually brought in a few extra coin if needed, and above all else sturdy enough instruments always seemed useful. But there was another reason all together, on why he loved the notes that flowed and mixed with the noise around him. The way a few notes mixed and coiled, the way they carried unseen memories of the past to a new generation, and brought emotions to those of all walks of life, it was something he always felt at home with.
"So, due to my lack of general experience, I must say-play whatever you wish, sir."
“As you wish.” Alex couldn’t help but smile the same idiotic grin he always had. He loved to play music, but considering that someone was wanting him to, it made it all much more enjoyable. He felt several eyes burrow into him as he started to play. The song was a little more fast paced then the last one, and he tried to get in touch with the feel of the music. He felt the girl watch as she stayed nearby as he performed. He hoped he might be able to talk to her when he was done, not many took time to talk to a street musician.

This man, this musician. Ava couldn't help but study him a moment longer before she got too deep in the crowd to see him. She couldn't deny he was rather handsome, with soft eyes and blonde hair. He wasn't built very muscular and buff, which Avianna actually found distasteful and annoying, but lithe and agile. Even still, she couldn't figure out what was so perplexing about him.
To avoid looking like a gaping idiot, Avianna returned to her place in the back of the crowd, not quite stalking-but more watching and trying not to look conspicuous. It may have been paranoia, but she swore she saw him look at her a few times, so she decided to check out the other entertainers.
She had to admit, many of these people were rather talented. Some were making music with assortments of instruments from brassy horns to drums. Other people were preforming things like swallowing swords (which Ava found disgusting), juggling balls and there was even a jester whom really did tell hilarious jokes and she couldn't remember the last time she had laughed as hard as he made her laugh. After almost an hour of browsing, still returning to the lyre player every so often, she saw that she was actually having a good time.
Slowly, as the sky began to darken, more and more people began to leave for their beds and slowly, more and more performers left as well. By the time night had fallen and the square was lit dimly by lights down the street, only a few people remained. That was when Avianna realized that she might miss the mysterious musician. She walked (perhaps a little too quickly) towards the place where she had seen him before and approached him nonchalantly, "Hello again, sir." she greeted was a pleasant smile.

Alex continued to play his music as he thought about the girl who had visited him. He watched as she disappeared into the back, catching the small glimpse of her golden hair as she vanished into the crowd. Mentally sighing, his attention was fully turned back toward his instrument. He could feel people coming and going, as his music curved and twisted into the air.
He was surprised by the other performers in the square. He could hear various other instruments, and the laughing of a crowd nearby. His relatively peaceful, which he did enjoy, but Alex wished he was working the crowd in his other occupation. It wasn’t the fact that it was a large crowd or anyone looked particularly wealthy but he felt there was a few that could spare a few more coins then they’re willing to give. He had finished his song and bowed as the crowd started to disperse and head back to their homes and hideaways.
"Hello again, sir."
He looked up at the dark sky as he started to gather the coins that were left in front of him. He was happy with the amount that was left at his feet, but then again gold wasn’t the only reason he had come out to perform. It was then he heard the sound of someone talking to him. He recognized the voice not just any random music or art enthusiast but as the girl who was at his show. Turning around quickly to catch the smile on her face; causing Alexander to smile as he looked into her eyes. “Hello again my young patron.” Alex bowed his head slightly, putting the coin he had earned into his pocket. He was always happy to get a chance to talk to people who heard his works, and there was something different about the young blond that stood in front of him. “But that’s being rude of me, I apologize. I’m Alexander Marquee.” Bowing slightly he blue eyes gazed back up at her. “How did you like the music, I must admit I haven’t been outside performing in a long time, so I can’t really tell how I did.”

Avianna smiled politely at the musician, "Nice to meet you, Alexander. I'm Ava." she said. She rarely gave her full name out, as if anyone connected her to her father (whom had been a very popular sorcerer-for-hire back in the day) they instantly knew more information about her than she was comfortable with. They'd know she was an enchantress, they'd know her full name and they'd also probably know about her mother and brother's deaths. That was just too much for anyone to know about her, let alone a complete stranger she had just met on the street.
He asked how he did, and she gave a thoughtful look. "Well, in my absolute expert opinion, I'd say you did excellent." she said, obviously sounding sarcastic about her expertise on the subject of music; as she had explained earlier about her lack of it.
"You seem to have gotten a fair bit of coin, though. That's more than I make in a day's work. Maybe I should take up the lyre." her voice hinted amusement at her last comment. Even if it generated more income for her, Ava would never settle to live in the city as a street performer. She had learned from a young age that her happiness always lead her into the forest. The only reason she came to towns like these was to get updated on news and sell her game. Also, the idea of her playing a lyre in the forest for her own sake just seemed utterly absurd. Ava did her best not to draw attention to herself in the forest, as bandits seemed to like pretty ladies like herself-no matter how many weapons she had on her.

"Nice to meet you, Alexander. I'm Ava."
Alex smiled softly as the young blond introduced herself to him. He always liked meeting new people, but there was something different about Ava. Cute name, I wonder if it’s short for something. He pondered on it slightly as he tried to lose his mind in thought. He shook the lasting thought as he couldn’t help but cough, it was odd feeling, almost like something had strangled him from inside of his throat, almost like he had swallowed the air from a mine. He saw a small dust covered his hands, and brushed it off on the cement floor of the town square.
"Well, in my absolute expert opinion, I'd say you did excellent."
Getting the last bit out of his throat as he was able to breathe again, he smiled at the compliment of his music. He wasn’t sure what had caused him to cough but then again that was different. He had been sick before, from numerous things yes, but that was a feeling the young man has never felt before. He shook his head, tossing the idea was just a cold. “Why thank you, Ava.” He smiled, as he spoke. “I guess I am just being a tough critic.”
"You seem to have gotten a fair bit of coin, though. That's more than I make in a day's work. Maybe I should take up the lyre."
Alex smiled as Ava smiled as she commented on possibly taking up the lyre. “That it is, that it is. Maybe I could give a few lessons if you’re inclined.” He knelt down slightly as he talked and plucked a small flower off the ground and offered it to Ava. His facial structure seemed soft, if not a little bit pale. “A beautiful gift for a beautiful person.”

Ava was a little concerned about his coughing, hoping he wasn't too sick. Or trying to hint at her to leave him alone-though that wasn't a very good way to do it. She furrowed her brow slightly but he seemed to recover quickly and didn't make much else out of it. So she pushed her concern from her mind and her brow returned to normal.
"I think I might like that.", but Ava wasn't sure she'd ever actually be good at it. Sure, she could memorize spells and climb up a tree faster than a bear-but she wasn't the type to sit around playing musical instruments all day long. Still, it could be a nice hobby... maybe. She supposed it all had to do with the knowledge she had of this fine street performer named Alex by the end of the night.
Ava smiled at the gift. She was used to people flirting with her, but this was sweet. Not like the usual drunks and idiotic nobleman that ignored her once they saw the size of her coin purse. She took the flower and put it behind her ear, her cheeks blushing slightly, "Thank you, sir. And if I may say so, I could be saying the same thing about you.". Ava had to admit, this Alex person was pretty attractive, and he was obviously highly intelligent-mostly she could tell from his speech patterns. She was getting more and more intrigued and drawn to him as the conversation progressed. "Tell me, Alex. Since you were packing up, I was wondering if you were going anywhere particular?"
